MODULAR GEAR SYSTEMS
Shield Country is building a family of modular furniture and storage systems to protect, organize, and display the outdoor gear that reflects who you are and where you're headed next.
PHILOSOPHY
Belief 01
01
The first basecamp is home
The trailhead isn't where adventure starts. It starts the night before, laying out gear, planning the route, and getting ready to go. We design products for that first step.
Belief 02
02
The easier it is to begin, the more often we do.
When gear is organized, visible, and ready, getting outside becomes easier. We design to reduce the friction between deciding to go and getting out the door.
Belief 03
03
Gear is more than just equipment
It represents future plans and past adventures. We believe the things that take you outside deserve a place in your home that reflects what they mean to you.

OUR ORIGINS

WHAT SHAPES US
Shield Country is located in Peterborough, Ontario and defined by proximity to the Canadian Shield's granite geology. This landscape urges exploration; teaching durability and adaptability. This informs our beliefs and product design.
HOW WE'RE BUILDING
Shield Country combines hands-on prototyping and lived experience outdoors with new tools that let a small company move quickly. We use AI to accelerate exploration and visualize ideas while we test and build toward the products we want to exist.
WHO WE ARE
My name’s Iain. My first and favourite job was selling gear in a local outdoors store. After a decade in the corporate world, I spend as much time as I can outside on a bike or in a canoe with my family. I'm building Shield Country as I couldn’t find gear storage that felt like it belonged in our home.
